Happy Sweethearts Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everybody! A day for love <3 I love today cause it is a perfect excuse to tell all those special people in your life how much they mean to you! The hubs and I decided to celebrate V-day on Saturday. If you read my earlier post we were planning on going to the Winter Jam (a local concert) but found out it was on SUNDAY! oops... luckily we found out in the early afternoon so we didnt show up to an empty stage ha. We ended up spending the whole day running fun errands and then just staying over at a friend's house. It was SO fun and perfect :) I couldnt ask for  a better husband!

Lately I have been trying to learn more about creating on a photo editor software. My most recent project was making a V-day card for my best friend and husband. I have not yet learned how to save and share a document that still have separate layers for edited but I will share with you today my finished product!

Feel free to use this image for your own use! To put your own picture in place of mine you can just deleted that selected section and them put in your own picture :)

Lastly is my Music Monday selection! The Afters came out with a new CD called Light up the Sky. You may have heard their single "Light up the Sky" on the radio, which I LOVE. Another great song is "Say it Now". I really like their style, its different and fun. A good twist to add to your music selection :)

Yummy Treats and a Fun Weekend

Ok everyone I promised I would share my yummy game day treat so here it is!! I made a combination of these:

Nutty Mini Football Treats
AND these:

Peanut Butter Balls
Ok here is what I did: (Sorry I was too rushed to take pics! :/)
Ingredients
1 c. + 2 Tbls. crunchy peanut butter
1/ c. smooth peanut butter
1c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. + 3 Tbls butter (softened)
1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips
6 c. rice krispies
1 package reg. marshmallows
1 can cream cheese frosting

Step 1: In bowl, beat together 1 c. crunchy pb, 1/4 c. butter and powdered sugar until combined. Put in refrigerator to chill for 15 min.

Step 2: In large saucepan melt 3Tbls. butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted Remove from heat and stir in 1 c. smooth pb until melted.

Step 3: Add rice krispies and stir until well melted. Let cool.

Step 4: Take peanut butter mixture and form into 1 inch balls or smaller.

Here come the tricky part...
Step 5: Form rice krispie mixture around peanut butter ball and point ends to look like a football. (I took a handful of rice krispies and made a crater in the middle where I placed the peanut butter ball. Then formed the access around it.

Step 6: Melt chocolate chips and 2 Tbls. peanut butter in small saucepan over low heat.

Step7. Dip footballs into melted chocolate. Cover all surfaces. Refrigerate

Step 8: Put frosting into small plastic baggie and seal. Cut off a small corner and frost footballs.
SERVE AND ENJOY!!

I got a million compliments on these. An option for valentines day is to just make balls and put some red or pink sprinkles on top. Or you could put them in V-day muffin tins :)

Oh and by the way... ITS FINALLY FRIDAY!! It couldn't have come any sooner! What a fun weekend me and the hubs have planned ahead. Usually I work on Saturday morning but I took it off tom (YAYYY) so we could have a date day/V-day celebration :) I am so excited! WE will just be doing fun things together during the day and then at night we are going to the Winter Jam concert! There are 12 bands playing! Holy moly! The ones I am most excited for are Red, Francesca Battistelli, David Crowder Band and the.....
NEWSBOYS!!!!!!!

What a fun weekend it will be!! What fun plans do people have ahead for this weekend? I love hearing about others celebrating LOVE :)

Behind Music Monday

Originally I started this Music Monday thing because I just plain like music and the warm feeling that comes along with it and I wanted to share that with others. But the other day I was riding along thinking about how much I enjoyed my worship music and had a sort of epiphany. There is a reason why I love popping in those CDs that sing praises to my God and why I keep the songs on repeat, for real and in my head, all day long. That is MY time with MY Lord.

I often struggle to find time to spend with my Savior that I so much need because lets be real, life is busy and its very easy to get caught up in the busyness of everyday life. However that should not be an excuse and so I continuously search for ways and times that I can use for his glory. Music often creates that opportunity for me. If ever I am feeling overwhelmed, crabby, etc. (insert negative feeling) I turn on some praise and worship and I get to reconnect with God and re-balance. It allows me to be in his presence and refocus on him and what really matters. I find I can really pour out my heart through the songs and it ignites such a passion in me for him.  Psalm 69:30 "I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving"  Is not the reason he created us was to give him glory? My favorite way to give him glory is to sing of his praises.

The other day at church we had a guest speaker that brought this process for me full circle. He spoke of the importance of staying connected to our Savior in our world today. A point he made was if we want to be who he is calling us to be we can't connect and disconnect all day long. You cant download a file if you are periodically disconnecting from the internet. Just the same you can't get fully what the Lord wants for you if you don't stay connected with him.

Music allows me to stay connected through the day. All it takes is one song and I am back on track :) Some of my favorite praise and worship songs come from Hillsong and Hillsong United. Surprised?? They are SO amazing and gifted at what they do and yet still so humble. "All I Need is You" from the Hillsong United live CD never fails to get my heart moving for God. The lyrics have so much truth in them.

Some songs to check out are:
"The Wonder of Your Love" and "For Your Name" from Faith+Hope+Love
"Lead Me to the Cross" from All of the Above
"Perfect Love" In a Valley By the Sea

Hope everyone had a great Superbowl day! Next I will share my fun football treats that I made to share yesterday :)
